
We've put together a list of low cost activities so you can enjoy the summer sun in Christchurch this weekend.
Round up your friends and whanau and head down to Jellie Park this Sunday for the Jellie Park Pool Party. Dive into a day of fun with slides, inflatables, an inflatable obstacle course and a bouncy castle. Come along from midday to 5pm, and midday to 2pm to get involved in the manu competition.
The Christchurch City Libraries team will also be on site, so join them for Summertime Reading fun. Chill out in the cozy roaming book nook, enjoy some stories, play outdoor games and take a dip in the pools. Standard pool entry fees apply.
Get ready for a summer filled with stories, adventures and imagination with the Christchurch City Libraries Summertime Reading challenge. Complete the challenges and be in to win prizes from 1 December to 31 January.
Kick off the challenge at the launch with author and illustrator Gavin Bishop at a fun, family affair this Sunday. Come along to Turanga’s TSB Space from 11am – 12.30pm, free no bookings required.
Head down to Hagley Oval this Sunday to see the BetterMan v Movember Charity T20 Cricket Match. Captained by Canterbury sports legends Todd Astle and Kieran Read, both sides will be filled with former and current sports stars, well-known personalities and local cricket fans.
All funds raised from the match will go towards BetterMan’s mission which aims to improve men’s wellbeing and mental health and help them become better versions of themselves. The match is free and will be on from 4.30 – 8.30pm Sunday.
Come along to the car boot sale and Christmas market at Gilberthorpe School this Saturday, in conjunction with Greater Hornby Residents Association. There will be free activities include bouncy castles, Noddy Train, fun games and a free sausage sizzle. There will be a range of stalls including clothing, books, ice cream and car boot sites. Come along from 11am – 3pm Saturday.
Gilberthorpe School is raising funds to upgrade areas of the senior playground. To book a car boot/market site please email pag@gilberthorpe.school.nz, $15 a site.
Pop down to the Linwood Village Market at Linwood Arts, 388 Worcester Street this Saturday. Check out a variety of stalls from recycled and upcycled items to art, crafts, books, household goods, plants and surplus garden produce.
The market is on from 10am – 1pm.
