Help celebrate Kiwi melodies and their creators at our libraries this May during New Zealand Music Month.
From professional live performances and open mic sessions to album cover art workshops and participating in a library choir, our libraries have it all (and much more) this month, celebrating NZMM.
We’ve already seen the first in a series of live performances at city libraries from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, when they headed to Fendalton Library on Friday as part of their Music Trails series.
The orchestra will also play a 45-minute performance, filled with song, dance and storytelling at the New Brighton Library on May 22.
The Council’s Programmes, Events and Learning Manager Hayley Browne said she was thrilled to be able to offer such a diverse range of events.
“We really are blessed in Ōtautahi to have such depth in talent when it comes to our musicians.
“To be able to provide a stage, or even just a microphone in some instances, we are thrilled to play a part in giving a platform to some brilliant artists across this month for the public to come and see,” she said.
