Anthony Harper Summer Theatre

Seize your last chance to set sail on the high seas as the 2025 season of Anthony Harper Summer Theatre has its final weekend.

The voyage of the RMS Titanic has been getting rave reviews from audiences so climb aboard for an irreverent retelling of this iconic story, set locally in Ōtautahi.

Evening performances take place on the Archery Lawn at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens 7-8.30pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there are two afternoon shows from 4-5.30pm Saturday and Sunday.

Wharenui Harikoa

Head to the Canterbury Museum Pop-Up at 66 Glocester Street to see a spectacular full sized wharenui (meeting house) made from 5000 balls of brightly coloured yarn and crocheted by hand.

The Wharenui Harikoa (which translates to ‘House of Joy’) is the creation of artists Lissy and Rudi Robinson-Cole and was three years in the making. Prepare to be wowed by this incredible, eye-popping creation!

The museum is open from 9am-5.30pm.

Year of the Golden Snake Parade

Celebrate the Year of the Golden Snake at the 2025 Christchurch Lunar New Year Parade.

The parade takes place at Victoria Square this Sunday 3pm-6pm and will feature traditional lion and dragon dances, along with performances on the main stage including cultural dances and songs. Families can also enjoy face painting and Lunar New Year-themed plush toys.
