Having trouble making a new habit stick?

Fear not. The team at All Right? have launched a new campaign for the month of May to help you make a good habit stick.

Cantabrians are being asked to sign up for a “Habit Stick” – a small wooden stick on which to write and record their new habit – and make a change for good.

All Right? Manager Sue Turner said the Habit Stick was a novel way to introduce a new habit ahead of winter and keep up the motivation to make that habit stick.

“If you’ve ever struggled with a new resolution then the Habit Stick is what you’ve been looking for. Put simply, it makes it easier to make a good habit stick. Just write down the habit you want to adopt on the stick and then give yourself a tick every time you achieve it. Before you know it, your Habit Stick will be full of ticks and your new habit will be something you do every day without even thinking about it.” Ms Turner said.

“It’s not rocket science, but it works. While small things like taking time to appreciate the view, or eating your lunch away from your screen, can seem completely insignificant in isolation, when we do it day in and day out, year after year, the impact can really add up. As the saying goes: Change your habits, change your life.”

Ms Turner said “sorting habits” was one of four streams of work that the All Right? campaign focused on “because it’s the little things that make a big difference”.

“It’s always a good time to create a new habit and we know that maintaining good habits goes a long way toward maintaining happiness.”
