Council Head of Citizen and Customer Services Sarah Numan says Metrocard sales will eventually be rolled out across selected Customer Service Centres, driven by community user demand.

Ms Numan says this is another step towards the realisation of the Council’s Citizen Hub Strategy, with the provision of services that meet the needs of individual communities.

“The Metrocard offers substantial savings on the bus network, and our communities have voiced their support for more point-of-sale options,” she says.

Bus users will also be able to top up their cards at participating Council Customer Service Centres and libraries.

Council Head of Planning and Strategic Transport David Griffiths says that the introduction of the cards at Service Centres “signals another step towards a more integrated approach to public transport, utilising various resources and facilities”.

“We want to encourage more people to use public transport and lessen the impact of too many cars on our environment, in support of the Council’s sustainability policy,” he says.
