A little bit of pixie dust and some fairy magic marked the start of today’s Christchurch City Council meeting.

(pictured), all members of Christchurch’s Faerie Circle, used the public forum session at the start of the meeting to plea for a fairy festival for Christchurch.

Lily Peas Blossom said they desperately wanted to bring joy to Christchurch by holding a regular fairy festival but did not have the means to stage it themselves.

Fairies were very popular, particularly with young girls, and they believed if Christchurch held a fairy festival it would attract people from around the world.

“Fairies hold a special place in many people’s hearts,’’ Lily Peas Blossom said.

Christchurch’s Faerie Circle are going to talk more to Council staff about their ideas for bringing more fairy magic to Christchurch.
