Children will soon be able to cool off in Christchurch's outdoor pools and paddling pools.

Council-run summer pools, including Waltham Pool, Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre Pool, Lyttelton Pool, and the outdoor swimming pool at Jellie Park are open from this Saturday, 18 November until 3 April next year.

Templeton Pool will open on 2 December and close on 25 February.

Council Recreation and Sport Operations Leader Rob Gibbs is looking forward to a busy summer ahead.

“It’s exciting to be able to open our doors at Show Weekend as usual and have so many great outdoor pools to offer the community. We’re hoping for some fantastic weather over the summer so people have lots of opportunities to get into the water.”

Halswell and Waltham Pools will be open for limited hours from 18 November to 3 December, from 12pm until 7pm, but from 4 December they will open 6am until 8pm Monday to Friday and 7am until 8pm on weekends and public holidays.

Lyttelton Pool will be operated by the Council from 12pm until 7pm Monday to Sunday from 18 November until 3 April but key holders will have access to the pool from 7am until 8pm.
