The young and young-at-heart should make a bee-line for Horncastle Arena this weekend for the biggest LEGO based show in New Zealand.

The Christchurch Brick Show 2016 will feature amazing LEGO models for all ages. Children will have the opportunity to get hands on with various LEGO focused activities in a dedicated LEGO play area. The show is open from 9am to 5pm and entry is $5 per person, with children under 2 admitted free.

* Visit the Tiny Huts exhibition at 60 Brighton Mall and pick your favourite from the over 80 fascinating Tiny Hut design ideas entered into the Tiny Huts Design Competition by students, designers, artists, and architects. You can vote for your favourite design in both the Open and Schools categories. While you are in New Brighton check out the New Brighton Seaside Market which is on every Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

*Head to the Christchurch Art Gallery and check out the GREAT BRITTEN! exhibition. The exhibition by New Zealand’s best known conceptual artist Billy Apply features the late John Britten’s V1000 motorcycle, which is regarded as the most widely admired motorcycle in the world.

* Take the kids to Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre between 1.30 and 5pm on either Saturday or Sunday for a KidsFest pool party. Kids can play on the inflatables, dance in the water to a DJ and play some pool games.

* On Sunday morning head to the Cardboard Cathedral in Latimer Square for a special KidsFest Church Service at 10am.

* Head to The Commons (corner of Kilmore and Colombo streets) on Sunday afternoon and take part in freiSite Urbagaine – a rogaine-style race around the undervalued, cool and free things to do in Christchurch. You’ll get a map and a list of clues and then you can walk, run, scoot or cycle around the central city. There will be prizes for the first team back with all the clues complete and for the best dressed team. Registration is from 12.30 to 12.45pm and the race starts at 1pm sharp.
