Two people will contest the vacant position on Te Pataka ō Rakaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board.
Nominations for the extraordinary vacancy for the Akaroa Community Subdivision on the board closed at noon today.

The by-election was triggered by the death of Deputy Chair Nigel Harrison in February.
The Local Electoral Act 2001 requires that if a vacancy arises on council or a community board more than 12 months before the next triennial election, an election must be held.
Deputy Electoral Officer Jo Daly says the by-election will be conducted by postal vote, and all eligible electors will receive their voting documents in the mail.
“Voting will open on Monday 11 May and close at 12 noon on election day, Friday 12 June, with progress results announced later that day. ”
Electors will start to receive voting documents in the mail from Monday 11 May.
Completed voting documents can be returned by post or to orange vote bins at Council libraries and customer service hubs in Akaroa and Little River and Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street.
Special voting facilities will be available Monday to Friday during ordinary opening hours at Akaroa Customer Service Hub, Little River Customer Service Hub and Te Hononga Civic Offices.
