Water samples test negative for E.coli

Samples of the water taken from the Avonhead-Russley area yesterday have tested negative for E.coli.

The water was tested as a precautionary measure yesterday after some residents in the Avonhead- Russley area complained their tap water was discoloured.

The Council responded quickly to the reports, flushing the network and shutting down the relevent pump station.

Test results received this afternoon showed no signs of E.coli in the water.

It is likely the water became discoloured because some fine sand got into it.
