Looking for ways to keep busy over the long weekend? Here's what's on in and around Christchurch over the three-day weekend.

Orton Bradley Park Spring Fair

Come along to the Orton Bradley Spring Fair this Sunday and take a look through garden walks, kids activities, machinery demonstrations, craft and food stalls, walking and bike tracks, live music and more. The fair will be on from 10am – 4pm Sunday at Orton Bradley Park.

Annual Labour Weekend Plant Sale

Check out the Annual Labour Weekend Plant Sale in Riccarton this weekend. There are fruit, vegetable and bedding plants, herbs, flowers, grasses, fruit trees, succulents, houseplants and more.

The plant sale will be on from 9.30am – 12.30pm Saturday and Sunday at St Teresa’s Hall, 8 Puriri Street, Riccarton.

Spring Market

The annual Spring Market at the Climate Action Campus is on this Saturday. Check out over 80 stalls and food trucks, featuring local businesses, live music, speakers and more.

The Climate Action Campus is located at 180 Avonside Drive, come along to the market from 10am – 2pm Saturday.

Diwali 2025

Diwali 2025 celebrations will be on at Queen Elizabeth II Park this Saturday. There will be rides for all age groups and food and trade stalls to explore and enjoy Indian art and cuisine.

Stage performances will showcase Indian culture, traditional dance forms and Bollywood numbers. Come along from 2pm – 10pm to celebrate.

Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival

Experience big band jazz music and swing dance as the Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival fills central city locations for five days.

On Saturday, hear five big bands at A Rolling Stone, enjoy jazz at Fat Eddie’s, play and perform in a workshop, listen to big bands in the Gough Family Court Theatre Foyer, and more.

On Sunday, dance the night away at the Big Band Boogie Ball, enjoy music at The Church Pub, celebrate big bands at the Arts Centre Heritage Blast, and grab a bite to eat and enjoy five bands at Riverside Market.

And on Monday, bring your picnic blanket, lawn chairs, friends and family to Archery Lawn at the Botanic Gardens for the Big Band Picnic from 10am – 4.30pm.

Christchurch Country Festival

Celebrate spring with a day of artisan markets, local food, live music and family-friendly fun at the Christchurch Country Festival.

Enjoy a full day of boutique shopping with music, kids’ activities and entertainment. The Festival will be on from 10am – 5pm Monday at the Vintage Car Club – Macleans Island.

Get spooky this Halloween season as kids learn about the sneaky predators haunting our backyards – and how we can all play a part in our native wildlife. Then, let your creativity run wild by crafting your very own predator-inspired Halloween mask.

Join Christchurch Envirokids and Predator Free Port Hills for a fun and educational Halloween session filled with predator facts and mask-making. Come along to The Kiosk at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens from 10am – 1pm Saturday to get involved.
