Go Live is serving up a huge music festival experience, returning to Christchurch Town Hall this winter.
Tickets are on sale now for the big night – happening on Saturday 17 August, from 7.00pm to 11pm.
With 15 acts performing across four stages, this years’ Go Live Festival will be stacked with local talent from Ōtautahi and beyond, says Christchurch City Council Manager Events and Arts Lucy Blackmore.
“Dialling up the nostalgia are influential indie group The Bats with a music career spanning over 38 years.
“From Tauranga, we have alternative rock group Midwave Breaks, who have just been nominated for Best Rock Act for the Aotearoa Music Awards , and we’ve also got dub rock group Left or Right coming up from Dunedin, as our special guest artists,” Ms Blackmore says.
“Bringing an energetic, dance-centric set is edgy, electro-pop singer-songwriter PRINS, while emerging artist Phoebe Vic blends styles with her unique, alt-pop sound.”
Also set to play are 1 Drop Nation, who offer a fusion of reggae, rock, funk, jazz and RnB, and indie rock groups Transistors and Imperial April. Other acts include surf rockers Hawaiian Maiden, returning after a long hiatus, and folk duo Wax Birds, as well as Loves Ugly Children, Somebody Do Something, Lee Martin, Tealskie and the 2024 Dig the Gig winner.
Many acts this year are popular in the indie and rock scene, so Ms Blackmore says Go Live 2024 will be especially enjoyed by people who like those music styles – but there’s still something for everyone.
“Go Live Festival is about creating an epic live music experience for people of all ages and supporting homegrown music artists with an opportunity to put on a great show for their fans and reach new audiences.
“Last year’s festival had a great turnout and buzz, so we’re thrilled to keep growing this event and to be back at the Christchurch Town Hall. It’s an iconic venue in the heart of the city – perfect for a winter festival, keeping everyone warm and entertained,” she says.
Limited earlybird tickets are available now at Ticketek for only $25, plus booking fees. Get in quick before they sell out – second release tickets are $35.
