Bring your friends and whānau along to the Matariki Dune Planting this weekend to support our local dunes. Meet at the New Brighton Library at 10am Saturday for a kōrero with Ranger Jason before heading out to plant.
Please bring your own gloves if you have them. Under 14s must have adult supervision.
Join us at Bridgestone Reserve on Saturday for a community planting day as part of the Papanui Bush restoration project. Get out in the fresh winter air, give back to the natural environment and connect with your local community.
Tools will be provided, all you need to bring is weather appropriate clothing, sturdy close-toe shoes and a water bottle. Meet at 9am the picnic table under the oak tree next to the BrainTree car park and we’ll kick off from there.

Head down to Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre at 75 Lyttelton Street from 10am – 4pm Saturday or Sunday to check it out.
Celebrate the Philippine Independence Day Celebration ‘Araw ng Kasarinlan' at Tūranga this Saturday afternoon. Come and join us as we celebrate Christchurch’s Filipino local heroes, our kababayans who made significant contributions to Christchurch on different fields.
There will be performances from different Christchurch school groups and craft activities after the celebration. Come along between 1 – 3pm Saturday.
Head down to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple between 10am – 3pm Saturday for the 2025 Chocolatte International Foods Festival. Enjoy a day filled with chocolates and other international vegetarian foods from around the world.
Sample chocolates from different countries, watch live cooking demonstrations and participate in other food-related activities. The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple is located at 2 Harakeke Street, Riccarton.
