Watch the sky light up like a galaxy far, far away when the annual fireworks display sparks into action on Sunday 5 November.
The TreeTech Guy Fawkes Fireworks Spectacular is being held at New Brighton and this year it has a Star Wars theme
Get ready for this year's TreeTech Guy Fawkes Fireworks Spectacular at New Brighton.
The pyrotechnics will be choreographed to music from the iconic 40-year-old movie franchise that will be broadcast live on the Breeze and played through a huge sound system on the pier.
In previous years, the event has attracted 15,000 to 20,000 people.
Council Events Co-ordinator Paul Kean says the huge public event provides a safe, enjoyable family occasion and avoids the dangers of uncontrolled backyard fireworks.
“This fireworks night has a long history of being a great experience for everyone. It’s really well-controlled and managed so that people can have fun without the dangers of lighting fireworks themselves at home or in local parks.”
With repairs being carried out on the pier and construction of the new children’s playground on the north side of New Brighton Library, the Council is encouraging people to watch the display from the surf lifesaving clubs to the north and south of the pier.
There will be fun, family activities happening in these areas from 6pm, such as face painting by Faeries at North Beach and entertainment by the Nature Magic Pirate Ukelele Band at South New Brighton.
For the central area New Brighton Project are organising a band and food stalls in New Brighton Mall and watch out for roaming Star Wars characters.
The fireworks will also be easily seen from as far away as Sumner and Mt Pleasant.
