Gather up your friends and whānau and head to the Botanic Gardens this weekend as Summer Sundays gets underway with two incredible tribute bands.
The music of legendary rock bands Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones will be brought to life in two high-energy sets from 1-4pm on Sunday 1 February.
DnD Showband is one of the country’s longest running tribute acts, known for their musical skill and entertainment artistry. The five-piece group presents a Fleetwood Mac set spanning 1968's ‘Albatross’ through to 1987's ‘Little Lies’.
They’ll be joined by Silver Train – The Rolling Stones Tribute.
“These guys channel the electricity of rock’s greatest band with fiery renditions delivered with attitude and stage presence,” says Christchurch City Council Arts and Events Manager Lucy Blackmore.
“If you are a fan of the Stones or just love live rock’n’roll then do not miss this! It’s happening on the stunning Archery Lawn – a stone’s throw from the Arts Centre. Pack a picnic, grab a blanket and come on down for entertainment the whole family will enjoy."
Looking ahead to 8 February, there’s music from Going Bush – A Kate Bush Tribute, Lloyd & Doublet with blues, ballads and country, and pop singer-songwriter Kelly Horgan.
The final concert on 22 February features the Karra Rhodes Band delivering modern-country, vocalist extraordinaire Lauren Marshall and road trip vibes with local duo Under the Wind.
The Summer Sundays series is free to attend and runs from 1-4pm on the Archery Lawn on Sunday 1 February, 8 February and 22 February. Picnic food, drinks and chairs are welcome – but no glass.
